In implementation of the presidential initiative to eliminate waiting lists, Sohag University is about to sign a cooperation protocol with the Directorate of Health and Population to support the health sector.

prof. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, received Dr. Ahmed Hassan Abu Hashem, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Sohag, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Karim, Undersecretary of the Directorate of Health and Population in the governorate, and Dr. Hassan Mahrous, Director General of Therapeutic Medicine in the Directorate, to discuss mechanisms for signing a cooperation protocol between the Directorate of Health Affairs and the university represented by the colleges ( Human medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and nursing), to support the health sector and eliminate waiting lists.

During the meeting, Al-Nomani confirmed that the university is in the process of signing a cooperation protocol with the Directorate of Health and Population, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership, led by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, on the necessity of improving the public health of citizens and achieving comprehensive health coverage, and in order to activate the health initiatives launched by the President of the Republic, The most important of which is the initiative to eliminate waiting lists, which was launched in 2018, with the aim of saving the lives of thousands of patients, alleviating the suffering of those unable, and performing urgent and critical surgeries with the highest quality and as quickly as possible in all government, university, private and private hospitals.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Hassan Abu Hashem, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, praised the university’s efforts in eliminating waiting lists, and the important role it plays in improving the health system by raising the efficiency of medical teams in the governorate, praising the fruitful cooperation with the university administration, which reflects the extent of integration. And coordination between the two sides, noting that the protocol also comes with the aim of providing all assistance to patients in the medical fields, and to fill the deficit of medical personnel in the face of the continuous increase in the number of patients visiting the Ministry of Health hospitals, adding that the meeting discussed the terms of the agreement that will be signed during the next meeting.
